Collection Skyscraper Waterproof Mascara

It's been pretty well advertised that this and it's non-waterproof sibling have been taking up residence in Poundlands across the land, and there have been a fair few rave reviews. I picked this up a while ago and I haven't had the courage to test it out until now because if I haven't mentioned before, I'm a rare breed of beauty blogger - I'm not a mascara whore. I'm quite faithful to my mascaras and as such, you don't see me reviewing mascaras often.

This Collection 2000 (or is it Collection? Even their new packaging sports the 2000, when are they ditching it?) offering has exceeded my expectations.

I love the packaging on this beauty, maybe it's the glamour of the New York skyline that attracts me!

The silicone brush is rather unusual. On one side, the bristles are deep and make light work of coating my lashes. But on the other side, the bristles are as good as non-existent. I get quite frustrated with mascaras I have to sit and stare at, twisting in my hand before I can find which is the right side to use. It takes a powerful natural light to even distinguish which side is the right one, and I really don't see the point in the smaller side. With curved brushes, I'd understand, but this brush head is dead straight. Confusing.

I'm surprisingly pleased with how this came out, it's lengthened my lashes really well, and that's only one coat there - imagine what it can do with two!

If you're looking for a voluminous look, you shouldn't be contemplating a mascara named 'skyscraper', they're not well-known for their volume, but Skyscraper sufficiently lives up to its length and definition claim, it caught lashes I didn't know I had!

The formula is creamy which I've found causes issues with the brush picking up too much product on its way out of the tube, but this is quickly solved with a wipe back into the tube. On my lashes, I have noticed it stays wet in places throughout the day regardless of how long I've been wearing it. I can easily touch my lashes and end up with a black streak on my finger. But this is what I asked myself - if it's wet, how can it be waterproof? Well, the mascara stuck to me like glue while I submerged my face in the bath countless times, so it's definitely waterproof, but that can also cause issues with removal at the end of the day.

I'm sure most of you are familiar with that feeling when you have a weighty mascara, and just blinking feels like a chore, your lids are heavy and weary and you wish you hadn't worn mascara in the first place? Well this isn't one of those mascaras. It makes an extraordinary difference to my lashes but doesn't make me feel exhausted after a day's wear, so I'm not rushing for the makeup remover the second I step back into my house. It's a great feeling to wear this when you've spent months wearing a weighty one, I can tell you that.

I'm super happy with this mascara, and I'll be using this a lot more often than I originally expected. If you can tolerate the usual issues of tacky lashes, difficult removal and an obscure silicone brush, I'd recommend this highly!

Once again, Poundland's standards have shot sky-high, (my hilarity never fails to amuse me) will you be getting your hands on this?
