Superdrug and CEX Haul!

It's not often I get to a different town with better stocked shops. I live in a city where the shops are few and far between nowadays, and the ones that are still open are poorly stocked with up-to-date products.

CEX is always my first port of call, as I don't have a PS3 and we've been using a PS2 for as long as I can remember.

The Da Vinci Code - 75p
How could I turn down a game at 75p?! Judging by the hour I spent playing this the minute I got home, I'd say it was well worth the money. It's testing my ability to remember all the clues they discovered in the book and the movie, although it's more based on the movie.

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow - £1
Again, why would I turn my back on such cheap games even if they aren't that great? I had a POTC game for the PC when I was a lot younger and as my PC gradually aged, it became impossible to play against the endless lag, so this brought all those memories flooding back. I know it's not the same game but Johnny Depp actually voices the Jack Sparrow character, so it instantly becomes worthy of my time.

The Nightmare Before Christmas - Oogie Boogie's Revenge - £5
Severe disappointment. I found this game weeks ago and I regretted not picking this up, so I did this time, and the game doesn't play, it just freezes in the title cut scene. A lesson to you, dear reader, don't buy something from CEX unless you're convinced you don't mind wasting it on a game that doesn't even work. I'm unsure of returns systems with a trade-in store, I'm assuming I have no real rights over it, but as I couldn't check the condition of the disc (scratched to hell) in the store, I should have at least a right to complain.

And onto Superdrug!

Maybelline The Falsies Waterproof Mascara - £7.99
I only picked this up as part of the Buy One Get One Half Price on Maybelline, but I always need a new mascara, they just seem to run out on me too quick, so it's nice to have a backup.

Maybelline Color Tattoo 24Hr in Timeless Black - £4.99
I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw this on the shelf. I usually just breeze by the Maybelline stand sighing to myself that the UK still haven't got any of the US released shades of Color Tattoos, but then this caught my eye. Perhaps it's been in Superdrug for ages and I've just been relying on my rubbishly-stocked store to inform me of such changes, but I'm bloomin' ecstatic I found this. I've used Immortal Charcoal for ages as a base for my black shadows but it just isn't dark enough, whereas this is a pure black, it swatches like a piece of charcoal and it's absolutely BEAUTIFUL. I can see this becoming an all-time favourite for sure.
If you're interested, the other shades that have emerged are 25K Gold, a very yellow gold shade, and Light in Purple, a beautiful pale purple - I somehow doubt these won't end up in my collection very soon...

MUA Clear Mascara £1
In my local store, they first moved all the £1 MUA mascaras to a little 'grab hole' hidden in the side of the stand, and the day I decided I needed a replacement to fix my brows, they'd disappeared, never to be seen again. It turns out no other brands make a simple clear mascara! Thanks MUA for saving my brows!

One of these days, I'll stop spending! What have you bought lately?

  1. I didn't find my own NBC game to be that defective. I purchased it when it was released. Is yours a used copy? If not then that's peculiar...
My only gripe is the content not being as explorable as I hoped it would be, ah well.

As for recent purchases... I purchased some hair rollers to experiment with vintage looks on my blog, hehe.

    1. Unfortunately it was used, it's a shame because I was reallllly looking forward to it, but now you've said that it's not as explorable, I'm not so devastated! I'm just grateful I managed to return it without complaint, it's as if the store knew it was defective. Pity. Ooh I can't wait to see how you get on, my hair's not as long as yours but it rejects hair rollers with a passion, so I'd love to know if it works for you! xxx
