Back with a vengeance!

I'm baaack!
I apologise profusely for the lack of organisation of late, it's been a hectic couple of weeks with the end of my second year at university. I have one minor essay and an exam left next month, but apart from that, I'm done with my second year, and that thought is quite simply petrifying. I'm in the process of ordering my books for my dissertation research and well, it's going too fast. I'm organising what I want to do when I leave next year, all I have to do is decide whether I want to do my doctorate or PGCE, then magically pull a few thousand pounds out from where the sun doesn't shine. Now the future doesn't scare me as such, but it's my obsessive organisation that's scaring me...
Is it too soon to be deciding what to do with my life?
Am I deciding too early so I might change my mind any time soon?
Anyone else who is going through the same emotional rollercoaster, whether you're leaving school, college, university, a job, home, anything - I'd love to hear from you, via Twitter or the comments or any medium! It makes the experience a whole lot smoother when you speak to someone else about it, especially if they're going through it too, through reassuring them that they'll be okay, you in turn reassure yourself in a very backward way.

So what's happened at uni this semester?

Obviously, I've written a lot of essays. 6 to be precise. Doesn't sound much when you put it that way, though. But my longest one was about 5,500 words long.
I discovered Reese's peanut butter cups are sold in my uni shop. Bad times for my bank account.
I started taking OOTD photos in the full length mirror in the toilets. Trust me girls, if you don't have a full length mirror at home, you'll take what you can get.
I started blogging properly for my university history blog, which I'm sure you've seen me blabbing about every once in a while.
I started wearing lipstick to lectures. Big time. I guess I grew confidence somehow!
I got a first on an essay! My first first, to be precise. But that wasn't the first time I've said I got my first first. You're not the first to know, I'm afraid. Twitter was my first port of call. Okay, I'll stop.

So I'm back for the summer, and the first thing I'll be doing is celebrating my blogiversary on Monday! Then I've got plenty of reviews lined up, so never fear, I'll be back with a vengeance before long :D

  1. I finished uni last year and am currently on a post-uni gap year (about to go on a working holiday to England!). I'm still not sure what direction I want to head in career wise like do a masters degree or go straight into working, so taking a year off was definitely my best option. When I back from my trip I'll get to look at what job opportunities present themselves and go from there. My mum is also in the same area that I want to work in so that's really helpful.
I think the best advice I could give is just take whatever opportunities you find, and do as much as you can to find them. And not to stress :)

    1. Wow that's a good idea, hope the year will eventually help you decide what you want to do masters-wise, I had a gap year before university and I didn't take advantage of the time to make up my mind, but I'm happy now so I can't complain! You're also super lucky your mum's in the business, it's really not easy getting into something you don't have any connections with so best of luck to you! Thanks so much for the advice, trying not to stress will probably be a hard one to stick to! x

  3. Congratulations on getting a first! My lecturers seem to enjoy giving me a high 2.1 and then telling me how so very close I was. :/ I'm still trying to decide on what to do after next year too. I'm leaning towards looking at doing a masters, but my university doesn't seem to give us much information about it? I've already decided that I want to something along the lines of Renaissance theatre and the relationship between Shakespeare and James I for my dissertation. Never too early to be organised! I refuse to believe that have to start being a 'real grown up' soon!

    I wish I had a full length mirror. :(

    1. Oh no! Ours do that allll the time, here have a 2.1 and let me tell you that one minor mistake is what stole the first from you! Wow that's a great dissertation idea, I like it! MAs aren't always greatly advertised, I thought my uni's MA was purely medieval studies but it's quite the opposite, so it's really worth asking around! Oh we'll never be 'real grown ups'! :D

  5. I got to the end of Uni and still had no clue what I wanted to do with my life, it doesn't always work that easily. Things have a way of working out, though.

    1. Ah that's a shame, hope it's all worked out for you now though! It's going to be tough and not everybody gets what they want out of life but fingers crossed!
