L'Occitane Moisturizing Lip Balm - Review and Swatch

When my mum bought a big set of L'Occitane products from QVC a while ago, I grabbed the lip balm instantly, held it close like some kind of cosmetic Gollum. At last, my precious, a luxury lip balm as opposed to using Vaseline as I'd been used to for what feels like aeons. I had the highest of hopes, because of course L'Occitane is a luxury brand, they must charge the right price for the quality, right?

Wrong.
It's a sticky, gloopy mess that never, ever absorbs, so you're forced to swipe it off after 10 minutes. Especially when it comes squishing out of the tube in a line, so you have to smoosh it across your lips. Also, no matter how well you store it, the top of the product inside will always dry up, so you even have to pick off the dried surface of the balm when you squeeze some out. In short - more hassle than it's worth.
10% shea butter? You spoil us, L'Occitane, you really do.
I'm quite pleased my mum bought this in a set of umpteen products, because looking at its individual price of £8.50 on FeelUnique, I feel a little sick in my face. I wouldn't pay that much for something that just does nothing for me.
It doesn't even feel like it moisturises much, I just had stickier lips.
My advice is, if you want a lip balm, you'd be better off using a Pritt Stick. At least that applies evenly.

Have you tried this lip balm? Was your experience different?

    1. Me neither until now actually, but thankfully I didn't pay through the nose for it! No worries, I could never lie about a product because I'd want to kick someone if they lied to me about it :P x

    1. Same here! I had ridiculously high hopes, especially because its RRP is through the roof for a lip balm! x

    1. Same here, I'd kick myself if I forked out that much for a lip balm, let alone one that doesn't work! :/ x

    1. Yeah I really rate L'Occitane as a skincare brand with their soaps and handwash but not for lips now! x
