Maybelline 24 Hr Color Tattoos in 24K Gold and Light In Purple - Review and Swatches

Maybelline released more shades of Color Tattoos in the UK fairly recently, and I was determined to get hold of them, regardless of whether I'd wear them or not. I'm absolutely in love with this range of products, I just can't fault them. If I could marry a product, I'd marry a Color Tattoo. Not a single makeup day goes by where I'm not wearing one. They last an entire day, about 10 hours for me, although I've never tested the 24 hour claim but others have and have confirmed that it does indeed last an entire day.

The three releases are 24K Gold, Light in Purple and Timeless Black. I've got a separate review of the black coming in the next few days because it deserves a bit more of my time, being a black-eyeshadow-or-nothing kind of girl. All these shades seem to have similarities with older shades, Eternal Gold, Endless Purple and Immortal Charcoal, but these releases are more improvements, better pigmented and easier to apply. Perhaps Maybelline are reading us bloggers saying that Eternal Gold was patchy and Endless Purple was impossible to work with?

The first I want to show you is 24K Gold. So what's so different about this in comparison with the older shade, Eternal Gold? 24K Gold is a lot deeper, more pigmented, thicker and easier to apply. Eternal was a pretty light gold but it applies quite sparsely, so you find yourself layering it up or simply topping up with a separate eyeshadow to get an opaque colour. 24K is also a lot more yellow, almost bordering on antique gold, where Eternal was a lot paler. I'm not a colour expert, I can't tell you what kind of undertones a colour has, if it's gold, it's gold to me.

I could stare at an untouched Color Tattoo forever, they look almost too pretty to use! Perhaps that's just me, when I have a new product I'm torn between wanting to leave it unused and perfect and wanting to dunk my finger in and test it out like crazy.
The next shade is Light in Purple, a gorgeous GORGEOUS purple that I can see myself wearing like hell once I've got out of my black-or-nothing phase. Again, this is an improvement on the old shade Endless Purple, which I didn't get on with at all, but when I went through a purple phase, I used it regardless. It was patchy, mainly because of its matte formula, but I would never dare to wear it without a powder shadow on top. Light in Purple is a lot easier to apply, being a shimmer shade, definitely more pigmented, but also a lot lighter, so it makes a kind of frosty  eye. It's definitely an eye catcher!

You can see from the swatches that the colours are definitely more pigmented and easier to apply! I'm in love with these colours and I can definitely see myself getting a lot of use out of these this summer!
As usual, these last as long as we come to expect the Color Tattoos to - I've yet to see them crease or fade in the time I've tested them before, and believe me, I blink and frown like nobody's business, so they have a lot to put up with.

If you like, you can read my review of the entire old shade range here, explaining what I love about the product as a whole.

What do you think of the new shades? Are they welcome improvements for you?
