Liebster Blog Award

So there's this amazing girl called Helen who runs Beautifully Superfluous (if the name hasn't caught your attention already, go check her out, she has killer lips and I'm jealous!) and she very kindly nominated me for the Liebster Award tag, I couldn't stop smiling for an hour afterwards, I was so excited!

The Liebster Award is aimed at blogs with 200 or less followers, which is a great way to let lesser-known bloggers know that their work is appreciated! Liebster apparently means 'dearest' or 'beloved', so if there's a blog you love, let it be heard! When I did some research on this, I found the rules for this have changed a bit as it's been passed on, but either way, it's a great way to share the love!

THE RULES

1. Each person tagged must write 11 things about themselves.
2. Answer all 11 questions that the blogger that has nominated you has set before creating 11 more questions for the people that you intend to tag for this award.
3. Choose 11 people to tag and name them on a post about the Liebster award.
4. Go to their pages and tell the bloggers you have tagged that you have tagged them.
5. No tags back allowed.

11 THINGS ABOUT ME

1. I have central heterochromia in both my eyes, meaning they start green on the outside but fade into a golden yellow in the middle. I'm often complimented on them by people I've just met, and I'm actually really proud of them.

2. I'm half Welsh and half Egyptian. It's definitely a strange combination but I'm disappointed I didn't inherit my Egyptian dad's dark skin.

3. I love Ozzy Osbourne. He's been my inspiration in life since I was very young, and that might sound like a crazy role model to have in life, especially from an early age, but he taught me that being unusual isn't a bad thing, the importance of family, and that music can save lives, as his has saved mine.

4. Call me superstitious, but I find I have bad luck when I don't have my nails painted.

5. Instrumental and acoustic versions of my favourite songs make my life worthwhile.

6. I've known my boyfriend for nearly a decade as a friend and we finally got together last year, god knows why we never ended up together sooner!

7. My idea of paradise is sitting in the sun by Cardiff Bay. Roald Dahl Plass is my favourite place in the world purely because of the Doctor Who scenes filmed there.

8. My favourite film is The Italian Job, the original with Michael Caine is the best. I'm a sucker for Mini Coopers and anything 60s.

9. I miss Ryan Dunn. Like, really miss him. Not a day goes by where I don't think about him.

10. I don't see the point in peas. I believe if a food needs to be chased around the plate with my fork, then it's not worth eating.

11. There's a dent in the top of my ear that I inherited from my dad, it looks like someone's taken a bite out of it.

Onto the questions that Helen asked...

1. Who is your beauty inspiration?
I have to say Katy Perry because she's not afraid to admit she's just a normal woman, blemishes and all. When she's dolled up, her makeup is always so quirky, and I love that she's one of a rare breed - the pale celebrity.

2. Who is your fashion inspiration?
I posted a while back explaining how Alice Cooper inspired me, but thinking about it properly, I'm a lot more influenced by the singer from a band that probably nobody on here has heard of before. When I went to see The Darkness in November last year, their first support band was Crown Jewel Defense, and I've been absolutely head over heels in love with them ever since. They're glam rock personified, and as you know if you read my blog, glam rock runs through my veins. Their singer, Taylor Hood, inspired me to venture into the world of bandanas and skinny jeans, and everything I buy has to stand up to the 'would Taylor like this?' test. If you've never heard of them before, I cannot recommend Crown Jewel Defense highly enough, they're beyond amazing!

3. What are your first beauty/fashion memories?
I remember getting my first pair of flared jeans when I was younger, they were humongous and silver and I have some rather embarrassing photos from a family holiday of those monstrosities. They still have a place in my heart, but I'm glad I grew out of wearing flares larger than my entire body put together.

4. Which subjects did you love/hate studying at school?
I've always been an academic kind of person, and I loved English, History and French with a passion. Believe it or not, there's something about essay writing that brings out the best in me. As for hate, I despised every second I spent studying Art. For a start, my teacher was the most horrific teacher I've ever come across, calling me by a name that wasn't mine for 5 whole years, plus I'll never be able to understand how art can be marked academically, it's all about interpretation and I'm sure if someone like Tracey Emin had gone to my school, she'd have been ridiculed. Another subject I hated was maths, I'm dyscalculia but my teachers thought I was getting things wrong on purpose.

5. Which celebrity do you really want to slap and why?
It's hard to whittle it down to one in this day and age of people like TOWIE and Made In Chelsea whose lack of common sense, general knowledge and gray matter in general makes me want to weep. For her recent antics with a married man while in a relationship with Robert Pattinson, for her expressionless 'acting', I say Kristen Stewart.

6. Have you got any tattoos/piercings and if you have where and what are they?
Oh I wish! I'm deathly scared of needles so I haven't bit the bullet just yet. On top of all that I have no money and a list of a thousand tattoos I really want so it's hard to choose what I want first. As for piercings, I had my ears pierced when I was about 9, and after two weeks I let them seal up because I was way too squeamish they'd get caught in my hair. Since then, no piercings whatsoever! Maybe someday though, who knows?

7. Which magazines do you religiously buy every month without fail?
As a student with limited funds it's pretty much impossible to buy a magazine religiously, but I'd say I get Kerrang magazine as often as possible, and no, that's not just because they always have a poster of Andy Biersack... *suspicious face*

8. What would you do if you were a boy for 24 hours?
I'd hang around in the men's changing rooms... What do you mean, guys don't do that?

9. Can you describe your personality in five words?
Ummm... (wait, that one doesn't count) Normal's boring, happy being weird!

10. Do you prefer silver or gold?
I don't think I own a piece of gold jewellery! I find gold washes my already pale skin out even more, silver seems more suited to me. Saying that, I wear gold-toned eyeshadow more than I do silver.

11. What is your favorite time of year and why?
October and November are my favourite months, not only because Halloween and Dia De Los Muertos - my two favourite days of the year - occupy them. I love it when the sun sets earlier but the nights aren't as cold as in winter, autumnal walks beside the river, cuddles to share warmth, best weather for wearing my band hoodies - plus mine and Troy's anniversary is in October!

I award the Liebster blog award to these 11 beautiful women (and if you haven't seen their blogs before, I recommend them all, they're all quality reads!):

5. When are you at your best during the day?
6. Describe your dream home.
7. Which fashion trend do you wish you had the courage to wear?
8. If you could relive one year of your life, which year would it be?
9. What was your favourite subject at school and why?
10. If you could time travel, what year/period/country would you like to visit?
11. Life is like a box of chocolates. Which chocolate do you reach for in the box first?

    1. Wow you finished it quick! I had so much trouble with the questions, I struggled to find 11 things about me! XD No problem babe I'm glad you enjoyed it, you've got a fantastic blog and I look forward to your posts all the time! I'm so jealous of your friend, I'd love to tour with CJD, but sadly I missed them on this tour because they performed on a Sunday near me and I'd have had to wait 6 hours for a train back home after. As much as I love Taylor, I couldn't have done it! :(
