EOTD: Purple Haze

I've been scouring Pinterest a lot recently for some bright and edgy makeup looks to help me out of my 'neutral eyes rut' which I've found myself stuck in since I started blogging. So I came across this:

The depth that the two colours creates is astounding, it hadn't crossed my mind that blue and purple worked so well together. As usual, I wanted to put my own spin on this, and while I like how mine came out, I kind of wish I blended the purple further up and more into the middle, but I don't have the patience for great works of makeup artistry like this.
(Is anyone else in love with her lips here? Or is it just me?)

I wanted to challenge myself to use nothing but MUA products been as I've collected a lot lately. The Poptastic and Glitter Ball palettes are fantastic for bright colours that make a look like this stand out.

I can't tell you how much I love the blues in the Poptastic palette, they're gorgeous both in the pans and on the eyes, so I think this personal challenge has already helped me realise there are other eyeshadow colours besides brown!

I used the most gorgeous purple in the Poptastic palette because it looked spot on to the one in the photo, it swatches as a beautiful purple-blue duochrome on my finger, but once it gets to my eyelid, it's like all that gorgeous pigment disappears en route. It's hard to load onto a brush because the product seems so compressed in the pan, then it takes a heck of a lot of product loaded on a brush to make a difference on the eye.

That being said, it looks absolutely stunning once you have enough on your eye, and it's lovely to look in the mirror and see it change colour in the light!

Purple - crease, brow bone and beyond, lower lashline, lightly blended into brow.

What do you think? Have you escaped the 'neutral eye rut'?

  4. Ooh I love this! Would it be bad if I bought the Poptastic palette just for the purple? It's a really beautiful look.
