Instaweek #8

♠ The highlight of my week and possibly my life - the man who's saved my life, inspired me, given me hope and my favourite music for over a decade, the singer of The Used, Bert McCracken, followed me on Instagram. I can't describe how happy this makes me, I'm still speechless and this was days ago!
♠ Food doesn't get much better than cheese and tomato pasta and potato smiles. It just doesn't.
♠ My first music inspired makeup which I made a post about here.
♠ Skull bracelets, I keep finding new ones around the house and I don't know where they're coming from! And yes, I am wearing purple fishnets. #hatersgonnahate
♠ My first grown potato! #myproducebringsalltheboystotheyard
♠ I was photobombed by a toy rabbit.

It's been a rather eventless week yet I've been rushed off my feet with housework and walking my dog who seems to think he requires 3 walks a day in the summer.

I'm getting tired of having to avoid the Olympics on the TV now, I can't wait for it all to be over. Yes, I'm glad Bradley Wiggins won his gold, but that's where my sports excitement ended. I'm not dismissing the effort the athletes put in, it's more resentment for this country I live in even putting in a bid for such an expensive event, when they knew our economy wouldn't survive it. People who can sit back and enjoy the success of 25-odd gold medals are either blinded by the medals, just as the government wanted us to be, or they don't care. It makes me nauseous even thinking about the money thrown at this, like Britain thinks it has something to prove to the rest of the world, trying to make a statement of authority, when quite frankly the Olympics has been an opportunity for countries to brand us 'cheaters' and unorganised toffs. I'm keen on political debate but I'm pretty sure a beauty/lifestyle blog isn't the place for it, so I'll leave my rant at that.

How has your week been?

  1. You've basically just explained my feelings on the Olympics to perfection! Clearly these athletes are awesomely hard working but so are the doctors on those reality shows I also hate to watch... Ha I make pasta bake with roast potatoes so much, carb addict! :)

    1. Oh thank god I'm not the only one! I know it seems selfish to dismiss their hard work but I just don't think they're lifesavers, like you said the midwives and doctors on things like One Born Every Minute save lives but there's still something odd about watching it. :/ Hahahaha pasta bake is fantastic, have you tried pepperoni pasta bake? Like heaven in a bowl :P xx
