After the disaster that was last Halloween, where I sat at home dressed as Alice Cooper and nobody but my parents saw me, I've decided to plan Halloween well in advance this year. Consider it my equivalent to Christmas. Of course, I took to Pinterest for oodles of inspiration and I found just that! Although I have had some unusual looks from my parents, showing them a new Halloween inspired DIY project every five seconds...

1. Carve a pumpkin.
It doesn't have to be elaborate, just an attempt. I'll never make braces like this little fella, but it's worth a shot.
2. Play Pumpkin Bowling.

Where I'd be able to source zombie hands, I'm not sure. But the dirt looks so realistic! I don't bake as much as I should purely because I have a fear of burning things... I burn food ALL the time. I once put a Twirl in a microwave in Food Tech lessons at school, nearly burnt the goddamn place down.So close.
4. Make ghost votives.
My house is always filled with candles, but we don't have enough Halloween decorations. You can never have enough Halloween decorations.
And of course, my second favourite day, Dia De Los Muertos, the Mexican Day Of The Dead which conveniently occurs just after Halloween. I'm going to do a few things for this year, thanks to the wealth of DIY inspiration brought by Pinterest.

1. Make a lamp cut-out.
The Zombie household really doesn't get enough of a makeover for Dia De Los Muertos, and this looks really effective, I can't wait to see the shadow it casts on a wall!
2. Make paper calaveras.
The easiest of them all, I just liked this idea of making a little skull to put around my room.
3. Bake calaveras cookies.
I love decorating cookies, but I'm not at all good at drawing, but that's because I don't have the incentive to do better, so hopefully I can do well with this, although this pattern does look pretty intimidating, I can always change mine.
4. Go the extra mile with my face paint.
See the neck detailing? That's something I've never thought of before, plus this makeup isn't pure white, as we know bones aren't white anyway, so this is the most realistic skull face paint I've seen.
I was tempted to also put down making some pan de muerto as a resolution, but I haven't got quite as much drive to make that as it requires making bread without burning it, never my strong point!
