Vaseline Lip Therapy: Original, Aloe Vera and Rosy Lips

You've seen them all over the shelves at Christmas - the Vaseline Lip Therapy gift set. They usually retailed at £7, I'm convinced I found one at £8 somewhere, but I grabbed this for £3 on Ocado. I personally would never have bought this at a higher price, when you can buy separate Vaseline tins for just over £1, but in this instance I really wanted the big tin... as if I don't have enough pointless gift tins already!

The big tin contains three little tins of Vaseline Lip Therapy - the original, Rosy Lips and Aloe Vera. With 20g of product in each tin, you're hardly going to run out any time soon, although saying that I've made a fair dent in the Rosy Lips tin and I've only had it a month! While I use Vaseline for lip care, I also have a huge tub of the stuff that I dunk into when I'm dying my hair - a layer of Vaseline around my hairline on my forehead really saves me from the horror of black hair dye invading my face, although of course this does cause a few breakouts because the Vaseline suffocates my skin.

I'd say Rosy Lips is my most used because I love the smell of it. The day this was delivered, I didn't let this go, I was sniffing it like some kind of almond addict for the entire day. The one down side to never letting it go is that it's easily melted, the product inside is a lot more fluid than normal Vaseline, so it's all quite squishy in there already. But that's not put me off, this one is in my handbag every day, even if it's just to sniff it at random intervals. I also use this one overnight because it's not an offensive smell, it's not something that's going to annoy me overnight.

While the product looks uber vibrant, it's not as intimidating as that on the lips. I have super pigmented lips so I notice no difference to mine, but I'd imagine this gives a nice lift of colour to others.

The second is Aloe Vera. Now I'm not sure about this one, I don't really like the smell, a fresh grassy lemon, I've never really liked it, but I'll say this one is the most hydrating of the three. It sticks around a lot longer on my lips than the other two, and it feels like it works wonders on my lips for a longer time.

Apologies I forgot to take photos of the tin before I dunked my fingers in! Thankfully the yellow-green tint doesn't transfer on the lips, but like I said this one definitely repairs my cracked lips a lot better than the original Vaseline.

And of course, the original Vaseline. A gift set wouldn't be complete without this classic, there's really not much to say about this except I love Vaseline, while I know some people don't agree with using petroleum-based products. I've always trusted Vaseline and I'll continue to until I find something that works better!

  1. Hi there, I use the Rosy Lips one quite a lot as I love the sheen of colour it gives my lips when I'm having a "can't be bothered to do the red lips" day. I have to say though, it's not the best lip balm I've used as I oddly find it quite drying & it doesn't last long enough for me.

    Loving the blog. :-)
