After the roaring success of my first lip butter, Candy Apple, I decided to grab the palest shade of the range, Sugar Frosting, in the hope it would lighten my already strongly pigmented lips. When I say strongly pigmented, I was once dragged to the head teacher's office at school to remove my lipstick. I wasn't wearing any.
Having seen so many reviews and pictures showing it appearing light on other bloggers' lips, I was super excited to get hold of a wearable shade that I'd use every day when I didn't have the energy for a red lip.

I won't follow my usual routine of three trials with this because it really, truly is just a sheer lip balm with a teeny tiny hint of light reflection.
However, my lips feel hydrated with use and I only need to reapply at least every 3 hours because I'm not at all conscious about colour bleeding when frankly, there is no sodding colour.
Don't judge a lip product by it's tube, folks.
Unfortunately as you can see by the swatch, this may as well have been a lip balm. I feel quite disheartened that I spent £5 on a lip balm that's not even as moisturising as a real lip balm, but at the same time I'm relieved I bought it on offer in Boots as opposed to forking out the usual £7.99 price tag.
That being said, I do find myself reaching for this a lot now I'm rushing around uni with very little time to perfect a bold lip, and it's much less sticky than Vaseline, so it's more wearable as I go to university in a windy city, but I really am disappointed at how sheer this is in comparison with the other lip butters. I feel I have to wear it just to make use of the £5 I wasted on it.
Of course, if you have naturally concealer-esque lips, this might just show up on you. Yay for you, lucky gits.
You may be thinking, 'so why did you put this in your January favourites?'. The answer is thus - I've reached for it every day I haven't done a bright red lip. I feel naked without something on my lips now I've fallen in love with lip products.

I bought 2 Revlon lipbutters, both didnt work out for me, I can't even use it on myself as one is too blue-toned and pale that it made me look like I'm sick and the other was too frosted. But I'll try Candy Apple or Macarons if there's an offer up in my local pharmacy.
ReplyDeleteOh no! It's such a shame when they cost so much and they don't work out in the end! I'd definitely recommend Candy Apple though, I think the bold colours are the only ones worth the price in this range, it's really disappointing when so many blogs raved about them :/ xxx
