Topshop Lips in Brighton Rock - Review and FOTD

Following the success of my last Topshop Lips purchase, I knew I had to get my hands on another. As it's spring and leaning into summer soon, I plunged towards the bright, hot pink of Brighton Rock. Leaning towards the Barbie pink, I was a little wary I wouldn't be wearing this kind of colour too often because I prefer my darker shades, but this lipstick single-handedly brought me to the feminine side of lip colours.
As I mentioned in my review of Topshop's Depth, I don't feel the £8 price tag is very appropriate, because as this isn't a high end luxury brand by any means, I begrudge paying almost a tenner for a lipstick, but on this occasion I was dying to try out this colour specifically, so I wasn't too disturbed by the price.

I love the classic Topshop Lips packaging, it looks really quirky and I'm always happy to pull it out of my bag and reapply in public. What I will say though, is the metal lid is clunkier than other lipsticks, so it makes a bit more of a noise when I close it up. The cream finish also very easily scratches off, as my first Topshop lippy now looks like it's been through two world wars.
Brighton Rock is a matte finish, which isn't my favourite of finishes. I much prefer a glossy finish (my inner drag queen coming out) that doesn't show up my lip imperfections as much as mattes do. But Brighton Rock only comes in a matte finish, so regardless, I bought it for the colour.
Actually as the colour of Brighton Rock is a nice pink that doesn't show off imperfections as much as, say, a red would, the matte finish doesn't bother me too much.

Using the Topshop Lip Liner in Fearless underneath, as I have in this photo, Brighton Rock sticks around on my lips for a good two hours, while annihilating any straws and foodstuffs that encroach on its territory in the process, but it fades nicely down into my normal lip colour, nowhere near as dramatically as a darker shade would.

I'm in love with Brighton Rock. I've worn it a ridiculous amount of times since I bought it, which is strange when I usually like to change up my lipstick every day.  So it's safe to say I love Topshop's lip colour range, and Brighton Rock is my new staple spring shade.

What's your stand on matte lipsticks? Love or hate?
