Whenever a 3 for 2 on haircare appears in Boots, I migrate towards the Umberto Giannini stand, mainly because their products are a little out of my price range to buy them at their normal prices. I picked up this Grunge Glamour Salt Spray purely because I saw the girl on the bottle that had the same crimped hair as I used to love to have myself. I clearly didn't learn from my last experience with the Backcomb In A Bottle that these images bear zero resemblance to what you'll look like when you've used it. They may as well plaster Susan Boyle on there, for all the relevance it has.
Having tried two products from this range, I've discovered Umberto Giannini have a specific kind of scent to their products, but as I'm so dreadful at describing scents, I can't pinpoint what it is, but it's kind of a musky type scent - it's not bad, but it's not something I would sit and sniff for hours on end.
I spray this into my wet hair immediately after a shower and either leave it to dry naturally or blow dry it, either method makes no difference to the outcome. I will say that spraying this is an absolute nightmare, the spray mechanism is so stiff and tough to press down, I have to pull a muscle just to spray anything, and when I finally press it down, it offers a pitiful amount of spray, I might as well have not bothered. On top of that, I'm not ambidextrous, so spraying my left hand side is nigh on impossible.
Impossibly sexy hair? If only.
Sadly, once again I'm left unimpressed by this brand. Sea salt spray either doesn't work on my poker straight hair full stop, or it's this product in particular that's failed me.
No wave, no volume, no texture, nothing. I'm just spraying my hair with water for no reason.
£5.61 down the drain again. Will I ever learn? Probably not. I keep hoping I'll find something that will boost my pancake-flat hair.

I have the same problem with salt sprays on my dead straight hair, I'd kill for a bit of texture but I'm either doing something wrong or my hair just hates me!

ReplyDeleteI use volumising powders (like the one from got2be) in combination with crimping, that can get hair pretty full quickly. But even then, I'll probably never get the level of gravity-reversal that some manage as my hair is also very straight and quite fine.
