Greenham Common (photo heavy)

Yesterday, we went to Greenham Common to walk Freddie somewhere different for once. In this heat, he gets bored of his normal walks, so he appreciates going somewhere he hasn't been in a while.
Before anyone assumes anything, Freddie's not a violent dog, I snapped him mid-yawn in the photo above, he likes to yawn when I pull out a camera... not the most co-operative dog when I want some photos of him!

Greenham Common used to be an American air base in the Second World War, so in one direction you can see deserted industrial structures, and in the other there's a run-down runway consumed by weeds and grass.

Next we headed to a nearby business park, where a memorial for the B-17 and Horsa pilots was unveiled last year. It took some finding, because it's in such an unusual place, slap bang in the middle of an industrial estate, but it was worth driving around in circles when we eventually found it.

Apologies for the excessive photos, I fell in love with the carvings in the Welsh slate.

Bearing in mind these were all taken on an iPhone 3GS, not bad eh? Goes to show the importance of good lighting!

What have you been getting up to in the UK heat?
