Hallowed Hints - The Halloween Tag!

If you're reading this, you probably know of my undying love for Halloween and everything associated with it, I mention it in almost every post! You can imagine my excitement when I saw Hayley from Water Painted Dreams had found a Halloween tag - I couldn't write up my own version fast enough. So without further ado, here come the questions...

What is your favourite Halloween movie?
I can answer this in a heartbeat - Nightmare Before Christmas. Nothing comes close to my idea of Halloween and the environment surrounding it. If I could live in Halloween Town, I'd be in paradise. Who doesn't want to bump into a vampire on the way to work?

1-10 How much do you enjoy Halloween?
About 9999. Everything about Halloween keeps me alive for the other 364 days of the year. People keep a fair distance from me in the months leading up to Halloween purely because they value not having their eyes poked out by my flailing arms.

What is your fondest Halloween memory?
Two Halloweens ago, I went out with friends from school to the local pub for a fancy dress competition. I dressed as a calavera and went all out - I stuck googly eyes on my face and wore the tiniest (/slutty) skeleton costume, which in my defence was the only skeletal costume I had to hand. I came second in the competition to a man with an epic Beetlejuice costume - I'm happy with that, his costume was outstanding.

Have you always been a Halloween lover?
Always. My parents have a photo album of all the Halloween costumes I wore as a child, ranging from a bat to the bride of Dracula (wearing my mum's wedding veil and bouquet - nothing beats a DIY costume). Despite this, I only remember going trick or treating once.

How do you get into the Halloween spirit?
I drag out all my decorations in early September and slowly but surely introduce them into the home - my parents aren't all that keen on Halloween, so they don't approve of skulls everywhere, but I find my way to adapt it. Like bringing out straws with skeletons on.

Favourite Halloween decorations?
Anything to do with skulls and pumpkins. I don't own spider decorations purely because I have arachnophobia.

Favourite Halloween/fall scent?
I don't have a specific favourite scent at any time of the year because my nose isn't the most functional, but I do love the scent of a freshly carved pumpkin.

Favourite candy?
I love the special Halloween variations of chocolate, brands like Cadbury and McVitties turn their cake bars into sour blackcurrant flavours and I love it.

Vampires or zombies?
You're on a blog called Zombies Wear Eyeliner, do I really need to answer this?

What is your weird/odd fear?
I have a fear of steep inclines. Hills that go up at a steep angle frighten the life out of me. I once took a shortcut down a slippery slope to the beach as a child because I was too eager to get to the shore, and I fell forward and cracked down right on my head. I sustained no injuries but I'm convinced that's why I'm mad now.

Last but not least: do you believe in ghosts?
I have to be nice and vague with this response, because I do and I don't. Most Haunted riles me because it just seems too fake for me, but I've had my fair share of personal experiences to make me believe that some kind of ethereal entity lives amongst us. Only two months ago, I was lying in bed and saw a white shape move towards me, thought nothing of it but then I felt a tight grip on my throat. Poltergeists clearly don't like me.

So as Halloween is nearly upon us, I want to see your responses to these questions - please leave me a link if you do this tag!

  1. I love Halloween so much! We never decorated my house as a child because its up a dark lane and no one ever visited so my parents got depressed at decorating when no one came trick or treating but now I go all out! Was just about to go buy the pumpkins when I saw this :)
