Revlon Lip Butter in Creme Brulee - Review and Swatch

My foray into nude lip products has been long overdue. I love my bright lips, so I wasn't really sure where to begin with nudes. I decided Revlon lip butters were the best place to start, and Creme Brulee being the only UK released nude shade, I grabbed it and couldn't wait to get it home to see the miraculous transformation from super-pigmented natural lips to perfectly opaque nude lips.

Unfortunately, there was no such transformation. I'm still unconvinced nude lips don't look great on me. In this swatch, it looks more like a mismatched foundation swatch, but on my lips, it sinks into every crevice and crease and doesn't attach any pigment to the rest. My standards for these lip butters were probably raised too high by Candy Apple and Lollipop, because this colour is a little too sheer for me.

My previous complaint with the lip butters is that they don't smell like their namesakes. Perhaps it's all in my head, a placebo if you will, but I can genuinely smell crème brulee on this. A sweet, sugary caramel scent really does seem to emerge every time I use this, and I LOVE it! I don't recall ever liking creme brulee in the dessert form, but scent-wise, it's heavenly!

With such a sheer colour, it's hard to tell when I need to reapply, but I do at least every two hours to rejuvenate the moisturising benefits of the product.

I'm on the lookout for a good nude lip liner that might just help me with this, I'm convinced one day I'll get the nude lip to work for me, so if any of you lovely readers have any recommendations for nude lip liners, please leave a comment below!

You can find the Revlon Lip Butters at Boots and Superdrug for £7.99.

  1. Nude lips don't suit me either. They always have to have some pink in them or they make me look washed out. It sounds like this smells amazing though!

    1. Yeah I'm the same, it's a shame when people always rave about nude lips but I just can't see it working for us palefaces! Oh GOSH it smells purdy, the smell doesn't linger when it's on the lips though which is a shame, but I've been caught out sniffing the tube on the bus... good job nobody around here expects anything different from me! XD xxx
