Topshop Waterproof Liner in Ebony - Review and Swatch

I don't ask for much from an eyeliner - just stay on my face for more than five minutes. I wouldn't call myself high maintenance, would you? Am I too demanding? Too clingy? My relationships with eyeliners have been fraught with smudges and infidelity, but it's not me, it's them.

Topshop's waterproof liner in Ebony caught my eye because of the price tag - £5 for something from Topshop? This cannot be! 

The only problem I find is how often I have to sharpen it because the pencil is too wide - take it as you will, there's more product there but a lot more wastage when you're having to sharpen so often to get a decent pointed edge.

It's surprisingly difficult to find a pure black eyeliner, too many brands assume when we want a black eyeliner, we want off-black, not-quite-black, very-nearly-black or not-black-in-the-slightest. As you can tell by the swatch, Ebony is a pure black, hallelujah!

The consistency of this pencil is beautiful - it glides on without dragging but it also applies perfectly opaque - it's just the right balance between creamy and solid colour which is extremely hard to find.

Believe me when I say - this beauty lasts. I have the most watery and oily eyes, but this lasts in my waterline for a good 6 hours, when sealed with a matte black eyeshadow of course, which is longer than anything I've ever tried before. 

My tip is to dab a cotton wool bud across the waterline before using a liner. That way you have a blank, clean and less watery canvas to use your liner on. And of course top your liner with a matte eyeshadow to set it in place.

I'm in love with this pencil, and for once I don't feel like I've spent a fortune on a Topshop product that wasn't worth it - this is worth every penny!
