As I'm sure you've worked out the obvious by now, Ali Zombie isn't my real name. Of course, it's crossed my mind at least thrice to change it by deed poll, but I figured Zombie isn't the most professional name to have sprawled on my degree or slapped all over my CV. But who is Ali Zombie?
In this day and age of identity theft and safety on the internet, I had to make up a name not only to hide myself from the dangers of the internet, but also from the people in my life that I didn't want to see me embarrassing myself all over the web - my real name is far too obscure and a simple Google of my name comes up with reams of information about me already. It was time to put a stop to that nonsense.
The new surname wasn't intended as a homage to Rob Zombie, as much as I've grown to love him since being compared to him, it was simply a portrayal of my morbid side, my alternative, creepy, undead side. I still have absolutely no idea where the blog name came from, but for some reason it really became a side of me I didn't have the confidence to be in real life.
Since starting this blog, Ali Zombie has emerged as an alter ego of sorts, a girl I could become whenever I stood in front of a computer or a mirror. I love Ali Zombie. She's feisty, charismatic, sassy, confident and optimistic - everything the real Ali isn't. The real Ali can't even think about starting a YouTube channel in fear of looking awful on camera, but Ali Zombie doesn't quite care what she looks like on camera, so they both have a good old debate over it, agree to disagree and nothing is done about it.
Perhaps I've become more Zombie over the years? I'm definitely a lot more confident with wearing vibrant lipsticks because Ali Zombie doesn't care if it ends up halfway down her face when she eats. Whether I'll become entirely Zombie one day and proceed to talk in the third person, who knows? All I know is, creating an alter ego for myself was the best thing I've ever done. I forged a new identity and changed the real me for the better, became a lot more likeable and a lot less nerd-on-the-front-row.

I just assumed it was because you were a zombie nerd xD Surprisingly, Rob Zombie didn't even cross my mind >.< I can understand not putting your full name out there, it's the same reason I along with many others do it. If Youtube is something you want to start getting into, then go ahead and start, don't let yourself stop you :) I'm sure eventually you'll get used to being in front of a camera enough times to build your confidence :)
